The 3 A.M. Vigil

This work captures the specific, heavy clarity that comes with insomnia. The dark, sweeping
lines of the face mimic the weight of fatigue, while the small, sharp jolts of color under the eyes
represent the intrusive thoughts that keep us awake. It is a portrait of the "shadow self" that only
emerges when the rest of the world is asleep, staring back at the viewer with a mixture of
weariness and hyper-awareness.
